Q) Do you deliver to Channel Islands and abroad
A) Whatkitchen.com is a well established supplier of kitchens not only in the UK but have successfully supplied to contracts in the Channel Islands and abroad. All we can not cater for in these instances is the transportation costs, but we have found ourselves to be extremely reasonable where this is concerned.
Q) How do I use the site I am a little unsure of what to select.
A) All you have to do is start from the top of the navigation list to the left of the site. It is simple really, just click and select your door choice, then handle choice & then you can shop in the carcass section. Remember when you click on a unit the price you see is the full price, there are no extras and no VAT to add. Once you have selected all of your carcasses then make sure you choose your plinth (for under base units) your cornice (for on top of your wall and tall larder units) and your lighting pelmet if required (for under your wall units). Now this has been done simply select you’re work surface and appliances, the rest i.e. accessories are just as and when you want to add.
Q) What happens when my order is placed.
A) When we receive a order we have a look through the order to make sure the order looks okay, we check aspects of the order such as plinth (to finish off below the base units), cornice and lighting pelmet (to finish off below and above the wall units). Once we have spoken to you and confirmed everything is okay with the order and delivery we will then proceed and put the order into production immediately.
Q) Do I need a unit for a built under integrated fridge, washing machine or dishwasher?
A) No, all you need is the appropriate size door. The appliance will be supplied with a hinge system to attach the door. If the appliance is situated at the end of a run or you have two appliances next to each other such as dishwasher and washer then you will need a carcass end panel to cover the side of the appliance and support the work surface.
Q) Are your units supplied with fittings?
A) Our units are supplied with all components such as hinges, legs, wall hangers, wall plates, shelf support studs. Most are factory fitted such as the legs, hinges and cabinet hangers, whilst other fittings such as wall plates are supplied in each unit, all you will need is screws to fix to the wall.
Q) Are the carcasses fully built up?
A) Yes indeed all of the carcasses are delivered direct to your door fully built with all doors wire works fitted. Again all you need to do is fit your handles.
Q) How are the carcasses constructed?
A) The carcasses are manufactured using 18 mm egger MFC. The units are made using glue and dowel construction techniques. This is a construction technique which is normally used by the continental (German / French) kitchen manufacturers. The fittings used have been sourced to provide a top quality long lasting kitchen in every means.
Q) What are the advantages of 18 mm carcasses made from glue and dowel construction?
A) Glue and dowel constructed furniture is the 'proper' way of manufacturing cabinets. A more precise technique that is used by all the larger mass producing manufacturers throughout Europe. This way a sturdier unit is achieved as there is no movement of joints by screws moving loose. A major advantage is that there are no visible fixings on the outside of the carcasses unless larger more unmanageable units are required such as 9x9 corners and 1000 larders. All in all a much better construction technique than the cam and dowel constructed carcasses, which are simply flat-pack carcasses built up made to look rigid.
Q) Can our units be used with heavier worktops such as granite or corian?
A) Firstly I may point out that Corian is indeed lighter than normal Formica as it is made on a frame. Because our units are made from 18 mm glue and dowel constructed carcasses they can be used with any type of worktop these kitchens are by no means a cheaper alternative just a well priced luxury.
Q) Are your carcase colours a similar colour to the doors?
A) We have worked in conjunction with the door supplier to bring you the best possible carcase/door matches. Each door has a recommended carcase colour that is the best possible available match to the door. The only time this does not work is with painted doors where we offer an oak board match to show off the colour.
Q) Do your doors arrive pre drilled?
A) The answer in short is all kitchens arrive complete the only doors that come un-drilled are the appliance doors as these are fixed to the appliance in situ.
Q) How does the surcharge for delivery actually work?
A) Each area we have designated has a minimum order value that will carry a delivery cost. If your kitchen exceeds this minimum order value then delivery is completely free.
Q) I am unsure of how to plan my kitchen and do not feel confident in ordering the correct items can you help?
A) Of course we will assist you, some customers have already got plans and simply follow the list but on line. If you do not have a plan but have the ability to fax over your measurements, and where you would like the main aspects of your appliances and sink. Once this is done we will assist you as much as we can and liaise via email.
Q) Do the drawers come with soft close systems as standard.
A) All drawers come with fully extendable soft close mechanisms as standard, with a working load of 30kg.
